Pittsburgh’s Bae Ji-hwan went 1-for-5 against Philadelphia

Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bae Ji-hwan (24) adds an RBI single to help his team win the game.

Bae went 1-for-5 with a run scored in the first inning at second base against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Monday (April 29) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.

Bae’s season batting average dropped slightly to .237.

In the top of the first inning, Bae hit a well-pitched pitch to center field.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, he came through with the game-tying hit, a single to left field. Two batters later, Jared Triolo doubled to center field, scoring pinch runner Jason Delay to tie the game at 1-1.

Bae stole third, but was stranded at home on a wild pitch.

His next at-bats were all singles.

Bae grounded out to shortstop in the top of the fifth, and in the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he hit a grounder to first base that threw out the runner at third. In the top of the ninth, he led off with a walk but was stranded.

Pittsburgh won 3-2, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Already eliminated from the postseason, Pittsburgh remained in fourth place in the National League Central with a 75-84 record.

Philadelphia, which clinched a postseason berth as a wild card, saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end and fell to 89-70. 19가이드03
