The Samsung Lions maintained their complete dominance over the Doosan Bears.

The Samsung Lions defeated the Doosan Bears 6-2 on Thursday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. Samsung remained in second place with 48 wins, 2 draws, and 40 losses on the season. Doosan improved to 48 wins, 2 draws and 42 losses on the season. Samsung leads the all-time series against Doosan 10-2.

Samsung’s starting lineup was Kim Ji-chan (center field), Lee Jae-hyun (shortstop), Koo Ja-uk (left field), Kang Min-ho (catcher), Lee Sung-kyu (designated hitter), Yoon Jung-bin (right field), Park Byung-ho (first base), Ryu Ji-hyuk (second base), and Jeon Byung-woo (third base).

The runs came when they were needed. Down 0-1 in the top of the fifth, Ryu Ji-hyuk and Jeon Byung-woo singled and Kim Heon-gon reached on a fielder’s choice. Lee Jae-hyun then drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 1-1.

Despite giving up a run in the bottom of the fifth, the score was extended to 5-2 in the seventh on an RBI single by Lee Jae-hyun and a three-run home run by Kang Min-ho. Samsung added a run in the top of the ninth to secure the win.

On the mound, left-hander Lee Seung-hyun allowed two runs on eight hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5⅔ innings. Right-handed reliever Lee Seung-hyun then came in and pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings, followed by Kim Jae-yoon and Oh Seung-hwan, who each pitched one scoreless inning to preserve the win.

After the game, Samsung manager Park Jin-man said, “All of our pitchers did their job today and created the conditions for us to win. I would like to praise 안전놀이터 both starting pitcher Lee Seung-hyun and right-handed pitchers Kim Jae-yoon and Oh Seung-hwan for pitching fearlessly against the opposing foreigners.”

“In the batting lineup, Lee Jae-hyun, who had two hits, including the tying run, and Kang Min-ho, who made the Lions fans on third base shudder with his three-run home run in the seventh inning, were outstanding,” Park said.

“Of course, I knew I was going to win the game,” said Kang Min-ho about the home run. I was wondering what I should think about at the plate, but Coach Lee Jin-young told me that if I think about a changeup, I should aim for something that comes close to the inside of my body, and that helped me a lot.”

Samsung will take a 15-day break before returning to action on the 16th for a three-game series against the KIA Tigers in Gwangju.
