Men’s Golf Ahn Byung-hoon-Kim Joo-hyung to begin medal hunt on Aug. 1

Golf competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games begins on August 1 with the men’s event.

The men’s and women’s golf events will feature 60 players each and will be played over four days of stroke play to determine the winner.

The men’s competition will begin on August 1 with four days of stroke play, while the women’s competition will begin on August 7 with four rounds of 72 holes.

The tournament will be held at Le Golf Nacional near Paris, France.

Golf has been absent from the Olympic program since 1904, but it returned to the Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, with South Korea’s Inbee Park winning gold in the women’s event.

On the men’s side, Ahn Byung-hoon and Wang Jung-hoon competed in 2016, and Lim Sung-jae and Kim Siwoo will compete in Tokyo 2021, but neither made the medal cut.

Ahn’s best result in the men’s competition is 11th place in 2016.

This year, Korea will be represented by Ahn Byung-hoon and Kim Joo-hyung. Kim is ranked 20th in the world, while Ahn is ranked 32nd.

Kim Joo-hyung stayed in the United Kingdom after the Deutsche Bank Open, which ended in England on Feb. 22, and arrived in Paris on Feb. 26, while Ahn Byung-hoon, who finished tied for 13th in the Deutsche Bank Open, went home to the United States and arrived in France on Feb. 29.

The son of Olympic medalists Ahn Byung-hoon and Zhao Zemin, a Korean-Chinese table tennis couple, Ahn said at the official press conference on the 29th, “I grew up watching the Olympics from a young age under the influence of my parents,” and added, “When golf became an official Olympic sport again, I developed the dream of medaling.”

“I would rather hear the national anthem on the podium than the national anthems of other countries,” he said.

Kim previously competed in the DP World Tour Kaju Open on this course last September, finishing tied for sixth.

Ahn is in good form this season on the PGA Tour’s FedExCup standings, tied for 12th, including a tie for 13th in the Open.

World No. 1 Scotty Schauffler (USA) will be one of the favorites in the men’s field.

Other top names include two-time major winner and 2021 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Zander Schauffele (USA) and Rory McIlroy, who will represent Ireland at the tournament.

In addition, LIV Golf’s representative, Yon Rahm (Spain), is on the rise after winning the LIV Golf UK event, which ended on Aug. 28.11 토토사이트
