Hwang Sun-Woo Controversy over ‘Hit-and-Run’ while Entering Jincheon Athletes’

Last month

in Fukuoka

Japan

2-year-old Hwang Sun-woo

who became the first South Korean swimmer to win two consecutive medals at the World Championships

was embroiled in a hit-and-run controversy.

The Jincheon Police Station in North Chungcheong said it was investigating Hwang Sun-woo for allegedly hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene while driving a car on the 20th.

According to the police

Hwang Sun-woo is suspected of driving his car to the Jincheon National Athletes Village in North Chungcheong at around 14:13 p.m. on the 7th

hitting an elderly man in his 35s who was crossing a pedestrian crossing with his side mirror and leaving the scene without taking any action.

The impact was not small enough to shatter the side mirrors

but the victim was reportedly not seriously injured. 토토사이트

Hwang Sun-woo reportedly returned to the scene of the accident about 80 minutes after the accident and told the police

who were called to the scene after receiving a report from the victim

that he thought he had caused the accident.

A police official said

We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident

adding

It is still in the investigation stage before entering the hospital

so it is necessary to review the legal theory.

An official from the Korea Swimming Federation said

We heard the story of the accident from Hwang Sun-woo over the phone

saying

He passed through the pedestrian crossing to avoid pedestrians who were crossing without permission

and at first he did not know that there was an accident

but after confirming that the side mirror was damaged

he returned to the scene (after recognizing the accident).

He continued

“We paid the victim for the hospital bill and agreed to it.

We have even reached an agreement

so I don’t think there will be a big problem like a ‘hit-and-run’ as it was known in the first place.”

Hwang will compete for the national swimming team at the Asian Games in Hangzhou

China

next month.

A federation official said

There will be no reason why the athlete will not be able to participate in the Asian Games (due to the federation’s disciplinary action)

but we will make an announcement after confirming and summarizing the relevant regulations and contents.
