Quan Ye teamed up with Lim Hae-na, a dual Korean-Canadian athlete
and achieved many achievements as a member of the Korean national team at International Skating Union (ISU) international competitions.
The two took second place at the International Skating Union (ISU)
World Junior Championships held in March, becoming the first Asians to win a medal.
However, due to the rule that athletes must have the same nationality
they cannot compete in the Asian Games or Olympics.
In figure skating competitions such as pairs or ice dance hosted by the ISU
one of the two paired athletes can participate in the competition with the nationality of one of them
but in the Olympics organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

In response, the Ice Skating Federation pushed for the special naturalization of Canadian national Quan Ye
and she was recently selected as a special naturalization candidate by the Sports Fair Committee of the Korea Sports Council.

the Ministry of Justice plans to hold a nationality review committee to discuss Quan Ye’s special naturalization agenda and proceed with procedures such as interviews.
Quan Ye is making great efforts to obtain Korean nationality.
She is currently studying Korean language and culture at a university in Montreal, Canada, where she resides.
