With striker Yang Hyun-joon starting and Oh Hyun-gyu coming off the bench, Scottish professional soccer’s Celtic extended its unbeaten run to 15 games after opening the Premiership regular season with a come-from-behind victory.
Celtic won 3-1 away to St. Johnstone in the 15th round of the 2023-2024 Scottish Premiership on Wednesday at McDiarmid Park in Perth, Scotland.
Celtic extended their unbeaten run to 12 wins and three draws, having not lost a league game since the start of the season, to lead the league with 39 points.
St. Johnstone are in 11th place (11 points).
Celtic’s Yang Hyun-joon started and played the first half before being replaced by Michael Johnston, while Oh Hyun-gyu came on for David Turnbull in the 13th minute of the second half and played until the end.
Celtic found themselves on the back foot after conceding an early goal in the 40th minute to Dialang Zayesimi, but the Hoops turned the tide in the 22nd minute with a brilliant goal from Oh Hyun-gyu.
Oh saved the ball before it went out of play on the right side of the goal area and followed it up with an exquisite heel kick, which was pushed away by the opposing goalkeeper and defenders in quick succession, before Callum McGregor struck it with a powerful left foot from the center of the penalty area to rattle the net.
Celtic pulled a goal back in the 34th minute through Matt O’Reilly, but James Forrest’s wedge goal in stoppage time sealed the win.
