“I want to stay and play for Man Utd”…even if it means playing with Kim Min Jae

Manchester United’s Rafael Varane, 30, has announced his intention to stay at the club.

“Baran has made it clear that he wants to stay at United beyond the January transfer window,” British outlet CutOffside reported on Thursday.

“Varane has started just one of United’s last 11 games, with Eric ten Haag opting to use Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw in central defense,” the report added.

“Baran has not indicated a desire to leave in the winter transfer window, despite multiple talks about his future.”

“His ambition to play for United is being realized,” said the Manchester Evening News. If the club don’t want him, Baran will reconsider his position.”

Baran joined United in the 2021-22 season and immediately impressed with his defensive prowess. He partnered with Lissandro Martinez at center back. Martinez brought a lot of activity and aggressive defense, while Varane provided leadership and stability.

It was during his time at Real Madrid that Baran established himself as a world-class defender. He was a key part of a defense that won three La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles in 10 seasons.

However, his role has diminished this season. In total, he played 12 games, starting only four of the eight Premier League matches. In the early stages of the season, he missed a lot of time due to injury, but even now that he’s back to full fitness, his name is hard to find. He started just three games between rounds 8 and 14 of the Premier League, totaling just 18 minutes of playing time.

His frustration grew as he lost out to the likes of Evans, Harry Maguire and Shaw. There were even reports that he could leave the club in the January transfer window. There were even specific rumors that Bayern Munich were interested in signing him.

However, Varane wants to stay at United. He wants to play for United. He is expected to stay at United and fight for his place. His contract ends in June 2025.
