The Key is Son Heung-min Captain Performed Poorly in the First Game

In the game against Bahrain, Son Heung-min (32, Tottenham) performed poorly unlike usual. But he will soon start scoring goals.

The Korean men’s national soccer team, led by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, played against Bahrain in the first match of Group E of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup Qatar 2023 held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar at 8:30 pm on the 15th (Korean time). They played head-to-head and won 3-1.

Then, in the early morning of the 16th, Jordan defeated Malaysia 4-0 in the same group, putting Korea in second place in the group.

In this game, Korea took the lead thanks to Hwang In-beom’s goal in the 39th minute of the first half. However, in the 6th minute of the second half, Al Hashash conceded a goal and leveled the score at 1-1. In a difficult game, Lee Kang-in emerged as a hero. 카지노사이트랭크

In the 11th minute of the second half, Kim Min-jae made a quick pass from the left side, and Lee Kang-in, who caught the ball, fired a powerful left-footed shot from a point far from the box. The ball wound perfectly and hit the net.

Then, in the 23rd minute of the second half, during a counterattack, Hwang In-beom caught the ball given by Son Heung-min and passed it toward Lee Kang-in, who was rushing from the right flank. Lee Kang-in calmly shot with his left foot and scored multiple goals. The game ended with Korea winning 3-1.

In this game, Son Heung-min formed an attacking combination with Jo Gyu-seong. While Lee Jae-sung and Lee Kang-in played on the flanks while occasionally attacking the center, Son Heung-min showed relatively straight movements.

Son Heung-min recorded 56 ball touches while playing full time. He recorded a pass success rate of 79% (31/39), touches inside the opponent’s box 6 times, putting the ball in the final third area 4 times, shooting 3 times (2 effective shots), successfully dribbling once, and creating an opportunity once. He also showed his presence in defense by making one successful tackle and five ball recoveries.

But there was no goal. There were no scoring chances. The passes from Lee Kang-in, Lee Jae-seong, and Hwang In-beom were sharp, and Son Heung-min often had good scoring opportunities. The goal was not scored.

The match against Bahrain was a little different from what he showed at his team, Tottenham Hotspur.

Son Heung-min has 12 goals and 5 assists in 20 Premier League games in the 2023-2024 season.

The most surprising parts of Son Heung-min’s offensive indicators this season are ‘Expected Score (xG)’ and ‘Big Chance Miss’. Son Heung-min recorded an xG value of 7.12 in 20 league games this season. That means if he were a normal striker he should have only scored 7 goals. However, Son Heung-min scored 12 goals with an xG value of 7.12. Son Heung-min’s actual score is 5 times higher.

Son Heung-min was a little different from this in the first game. Son Heung-min mainly plays as a left wing forward for his team. Although he sometimes plays as a front-line striker, he usually goes to the front line alone. In the national team, he formed an offensive combination with Cho Gyu-seong. And in this game, Jo Gyu-seong performed poorly.
