Yokohama Marinos (JPN) have taken down Shandong Taishan (CHN), coached by Choi Kang-hee.
Yokohama defeated Shandong 2-1 in the first leg of their 2023-2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) quarterfinal first leg at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center in Jinan, China, on Saturday (June 6) to advance to the last four.
The two teams will now face off in the second leg at home in Yokohama on June 13. The winner of Yokohama and Shandong will face the winner of the Jeonbuk-Ulsan match. Jeonbuk and Ulsan tied 1-1 in the first leg.
Yokohama missed the decisive chance. In the third minute of the first leg, Shandong made a backpass error and Andersson Lopes intercepted it for a one-on-one opportunity, but Lopes’ shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
