KOREA WOMEN’S HOCKEY DEFEATS MALAYSIA TO FINISH SECOND IN GROUP, ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS

The South Korean women’s hockey team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. Head coach Han Jin-soo’s side defeated Malaysia 5-0 in their Group A match on Wednesday at the Archer Canal Sports Park in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. With three wins and a draw, South Korea is level on points with India, but loses out on goal difference to finish second in the group and advance to the quarterfinals. The Group B standings will be determined by the results of the Japan (3 wins)-Kazakhstan (1 win, 2 losses) and China-Thailand (2 wins, 1 loss) matches later in the evening .Korea will play the semifinals against the Group B winner and will likely meet Japan in the quarterfinals based on objective strength of schedule .South Korean women’s hockey did not medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, finishing fourth. South Korea earned a shutout win over Malaysia on Sunday, with Ahn Soo-jin (Korea Gymnastics University) scoring two goals. The semifinals will be played at the same 스포츠토토 venue on Friday.
