Gangwon FC, a professional soccer team in the K League 1, has joined hands with Sevilla FC, a prestigious club in the Spanish professional soccer Primera Liga.
“We signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sevilla,” Kangwon said on the 9th, adding, “We have laid the groundwork to soar to greater heights through cooperation with a prestigious Spanish club.”
According to Kangwon, through the MOU, they will share information on promising domestic players and explore ways to develop them together.
The two clubs will discuss a short-term intensive program in Seville to develop the football skills of promising Korean players. On- and offline (in Korea and Seville) workshops of coaching staff and specialized personnel will also be held.
“We will receive advice on the development and improvement of the strength and conditioning part according to the ‘World Club Alliance Program’ model proposed by the Seville Innovation Center,” said Kangwon.
“It reflects Kangwon’s strong determination to grow into a prestigious club by benchmarking Sevilla. Sevilla is looking forward to strengthening its brand presence in Korea.”
The MOU is the result of a proactive move by CEO Kim Byung-ji. He first contacted Sevilla in April of last year to express his intentions and finalize the agreement.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with Sevilla,” said Mr. Kim. I hope that both clubs can achieve their goals through this MOU relationship. We will do our best to develop players and build a system. We will maintain a cooperative relationship for the development of the K League and La Liga.”

Sevilla is no stranger to South Korean fans, having played a friendly against Tottenham in July 2022. They were well-received by local fans for their outstanding fan service.
Sevilla is a prestigious club that has won the UEFA Europa League (UEL) seven times (the most in history). Notably, they won the UEL title for three consecutive seasons from 2013-2014 to 2015-2016.
They are also considered one of the most efficient clubs in terms of budget. The club is also considered one of the most efficient clubs for its budget.
