Australia’s Cameron Smith shot a 3-under 68 to win the LIV Golf League tournament at Trump National Bedminster on Sunday (Monday).
The 29-year-old from Brisbane finished 54 holes at 12-under 201 in the New Jersey layout, with India’s Anirvan Rahiri finishing second by seven shots.
“It was a good day,” said Smith. “I’m looking forward to weeks with the club suspended.”
Smith topped LIV’s season points list with a win.
Smith, who won the U.S. PGA Tour six times before advancing to the Saudi-sponsored startup series last year, won his third LIV golf title since winning the Chicago Trophy last year and the London Crown last month.
There was little tension after Phil Mickelson’s challenge faded early.
Smith started the final round with a four-shot lead over six-time major winner Mickelson but started with a bogey.
After Smith and Mickelson bogeyed the third hole, Australia saw Mickelson’s lead shrink to two when he birdied the par-3 fourth.
Smith lifted the lead with a birdie on the sixth, and Mickelson dropped two on the par-37 to drop the 53-year-old American left-hander on eight drifts, giving Smith a fifth-place lead on the field with 11 games remaining.
Smith started on the par-5 8th hole and took a seven-shot lead with three birdies in a row, and cruised from there. 토토
Reaper GC, captained by Smith, won the team event by 11 strokes over Crushers and Stinger at 20-under.
