Hyundai Capital defeated Samsung Fire with a set score of 3-1 3-1 (22-25 25-23 25-23 25-18) in the fourth round of the ‘2023-2024 Dodram V’ League at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on July 7.
It was the fifth consecutive win under acting head coach Jin Soon-ki following the firing of Choi Tae-woong, and the victory added three points to the team’s tally to jump to fourth place, ahead of OK Financial Group and 텍사스홀덤사이트 Korea Electric Power.
The match was attended by 3,284 fans, the largest crowd for the men’s team this season.
In the first set, Samsung Fire took an early lead thanks to the home fans’ enthusiastic support. In the second set, Hyundai Capital took the lead after a series of ties and reversals.
In the third set, Hyundai Capital’s Heo Su-bong showed his scoring prowess. With the score tied at 21-21, he set the tone by perfectly blocking Samsung Fire’s Yosubani’s follow-up attack.
Again, Heo Su-bong saved set point with back-to-back kills, and Choi Min-ho closed out the set with a winner from Kim Myung-kwan.
At 8-7 in the fourth set, Hyundai made a quick run with a quick opener by Heo Su-bong, a block by Ahmed, and a block by Choi Min-ho. Hyundai Capital had a high attacking success rate of 68.47% despite a lot of errors.
Ahmed scored a game-high 30 points, while Heo Su-bong and Jeon Kwang-in led the team with 14 points each. Heo was also perfect on defense with four effective blocks.
