Lee Woo-jin is gaining valuable experience in Italy.
After interning in the Italian league last year, Lee signed a two-year contract with Vero Valle Monza in March. While he’s still watching his teammates perform off the court, he’s already gained invaluable experience in his first year in Italy.
Monza, who qualified for the postseason by finishing fifth in the men’s Serie Superliga regular season, defeated regular season champion Trentino in the semifinals, taking the series 3-2. Monza, who are now playing the final series with Perugia, are 1-1 in the series. “I think the postseason is a lot more focused and organized than the regular season, and it’s a lot more nerve-wracking to watch from the outside, and it’s a lot more fun because there are a lot more people and a lot more support than in the regular season,” says Monza, who is currently playing in the finals with Perugia.

“This is the first time I’ve been selected to the national team, and it’s been a dream of mine, so I want to go and work hard,” said Lee, who will fly to Korea as soon as the Perugia finals are over, adding that she hopes to use what she learned in Italy, “I think we’ll have a lot of attacks that take advantage of three-person blocking or high blocking.”
He gained valuable experience from his first year in Italy. “I’m so happy that I was able to see the Copa Italia and the Superliga final. Next season, we can play in the Champions League, which I’m very excited about. I’ve had a really good experience with a friendly and good team,” he said.
